He's Not Gone! He's NEVER Gone!

One ancillary benefit of the crowded primary of the 4th congressional district was a serious upgrade in the 8th legislative district representation. Former state representative Brad Klippert made an ill-fated attempt to challenge Newhouse. After floundering in the 2022 congressional race primary with 10% of the vote (although spending $43k to get 10% versus Sessler's $530k to get 12% is quite something), Mr. Klippert quickly pivoted to run as a write-in candidate in the race for Washington State Secretary of State. This move was roundly celebrated/mocked by the Democratic Party as it virtually handed the election to Steve Hobbs.

After 14 years in the legislature and two failed elections in one cycle, would Brad Klippert ride off into the sunset? Of course not!

After quietly making an announcement at the Franklin County Republican Party meeting in recent weeks, Klippert has indeed made it official with the PDC that he is running for office, again. This time he is running for Superintendent of Public Instruction:

It took about ten seconds to see that, indeed, the URL klippertforospi.com was reserved on March 8, 2023. Then I noticed the contact email address submitted to the PDC and realized I wasted those ten seconds.

Anyway, saddle up buckaroos, we're in for more absurdity, more nonsense, and more performative politics. Someday, maybe the Republican Party will embrace candidates and positions that can actually win in this state.
